Most bagged mulch and soil comes in 2 cubic foot bags, and there are 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard — so roughly 13.5 bags equal one cubic yard. Enter your bag size in the calculator and it tells you how many bags to buy. Bulk delivery by the yard is usually cheaper for larger jobs.

A standard pallet of sod covers roughly 450 square feet, though it ranges from about 400 to 500 depending on the farm and whether the rolls are big or small. This calculator uses 450 sq ft per pallet and 10 sq ft per roll, then rounds up so you do not come up short.
